It will be a test of wits between the brothers Hardik and Krunal when defending champion Gujrat clashes against Lucknow. GT defeated Lucknow by 56 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The host team was invited to bat by captain Krunal Panya. Wriddhiman Saha and Gill gave a top start with Wriddhiman scoring 81 off 43 balls. Gill hammered an unbeaten 94 off 51 balls packed with two fours and seven sixes. Skipper Hardik also posted 25 runs. GT posted a score of 227/2 in 20 overs.

Lucknow was restricted to 171/7 despite a knock of 79 by Quinton De Kock. Mohit Sharma was in good form and bagged four wickets. Although Mayers (48) and Badoni (21) tried till the end LSG stopped 56 runs behind.
