Susmita clinched gold in Traditional, Artistic, and Rhythmic Pair categories in Dubai and also won gold and a silver medal in Sri Lanka..
Susmita Rai Debnath, the international medal-winner Yoga player from Udaynarayanpur, Howrah has already started her new innings a couple of months ago. She has joined an organization named International Yoga Council (IYC) as the director.
The purpose is to nurture and produce yoga players of international standard by training them and standing by the potential yoga players with financial assistance if needed in the future. Simultaneously, Susmita has a desire to create a platform for promising yoga players by conducting competitions.
Her yoga coaching centre, Rai Yoga Academy which has more than 150 students now has recently conducted an All Bengal Yoga competition where nearly 550 participants honed their skill.

Susmita, speaking to Parallel Sports on Saturday, revealed, "I had to go through dire financial distress before the Dubai trip. I had to pawn my mother's jewelry to cover the expenses. Then I had to face similar financial crisis also before going to Sri Lanka. Then we won medals in the Khelo India University Games. Despite the promise of jobs none of us in the team received either a job or any stipend even.”
Susmita does not want any potential yoga player go through the similar financial hurdles she had to face. “I have a desire of bringing up more potential yoga players and stand by them with financial assistance in future so that they do have to pawn their mothers’ jewelry to participate in any international competition. You can say this is my resolution on International Women’s Day,” explained Susmita.
The yoga player who won several medals since her childhood had exceptional performance in Dubai where she triumphed by securing gold in Traditional, Artistic, and Rhythmic Pair categories. Additionally, she was the runner-up in the Champion of Champions round, cementing her status as a leading figure in yoga sports. She also returned with gold and a silver medal from Sri Lanka.
