22-year-old Indian defender Bijay Chhetri could be making history tomorrow as he stands on the cusp of a potential starting role for Uruguayan Segunda(second) División club Colón. Bijay, young manipuri centre back, on loan from Indian Super League side Chennaiyin FC, transfer to Colón for this season, is a product of the Shillong Lajong youth academy.
He holds the distinction of being the first Indian footballer to play in a professional Latin American league. Previously, his brother Ajay Chhetri also carved his path in Indian football, with East Bengal FC in the ISL last season.
