Zidane wants to return to coaching after two years

Zinedine Zidane has been out of the managerial game since leaving Real Madrid for the second time in 2021.

Zinedine Zidane has been out of the managerial game since leaving Real Madrid for the second time in 2021. But the Frenchman expressed desire again to a return in the near future. 'Zizou' has been linked with numerous top jobs in the last couple of years, but has remained on sabbatical, biding his time and recharging his batteries. In the meantime, he has been touted for Juventus, Manchester Unted, France and even Real Madrid.

Now, after two years away from the touchline,Zidane himself has opened the door to a possible return to coaching. In an exclusive interview with'GQ' the football legend spoke about feeling "refreshed" after two years of disconnection.

When asked whether he is interested to take charge of French senior national team Zidane commented, "I have said many times that when you play for France then become a coach, it is logical that you think about it, but now is not the time,"

It might not be the time for the national team job, but after two years to switch off and reset, it could be time to get back in the game. Zidane has spoken about needing the break and the need in general to rest. "When I went home, my head was always back at work. In this job, everything comes at you from everywhere," said Zidane.

"All the information gets on top of you and you have the responsibility of making all the decisions. It really absorbs your energy. Sometimes, and I have done it twice now, I need to take a break. A coach is in charge of 23 players and never stops. Now, I am simply enjoying life. Everything is possible if you take a step back. My life always goes at great speed, but now I feel refreshed," explained the World Cup winner.

Zidane also spoke about how hard it was to get rest as a professional player with two young children. "When I was still playing, Enzo and Luca wanted to play all the time. I trained a lot and at home I just wanted to rest, but they did not let me," remembered Zidane.
