The hype was created through the campaigns of both ruling bodies headed by Secretary Debashis Dutta as well as by the ‘so-called’ opposition led by Srinjoy Bose.

But the fact was different. The hype or excitement over the election at Mohun Bagan Club which prevailed for the last couple of months through the election campaigns in different places across the city, was not unplanned.

Both the existing body led by the club secretary and the opposition headed by Srinjoy Bose were aware of the fact that they would have to go by the instructions from the state’s ruling party ultimately before the formation of the new committee.

It happened finally on Monday and at a media conference at the club premises, Debashis Dutta and Srinjoy Bose who had been playing a ‘mock fight’ between them for the last couple of months especially, making the media people fool, sat together and announced that considering the running of the club administration they are ‘one’!

Debashis Dutta submitted the nomination for the president’s post. Srinjoy Bose submitted his nomination for the secretary’s post. Swapan Bannerjee submitted his nomination for the football secretary’s post while former India international Satyajit Chatterjee submitted his nomination for the post of assistant secretary.

Simultaneously, the club’s former India international goalkeeper Shilton Paul has been invited to join the club as the youth football secretary to look after the club’s youth development program.
